inspiration and rough ideas for my digipak
Front cover:
Font for the artists name- Road Crew
as this is a bold and fn font, we also used this in our music video. this font is very bold and eye-catching wich is good as people will remember the name of the artist. this font is similar to the one that Eliza Doolittle uses, as they both give off an urban feel to them.
Font for the album name- moonlight:
this is one of the fonts i may uses for the name of the artist as i feel it will look good next to the other font. the font, however does contrast, i will be doing this to show two different sides to the artist as she has a ranges as a Pop, Hip-hp and R&B artist.
Picture: medium close up of KAYE's face, i go the inspiration from Lana Del Rey's album cover for 'Born to Die': as i feel like this is a strong image.
Costume: the fedora hat that she wore in the video and hoops, as well as a a basic teeshirt. this will link it to the video as in most of our shots she is wearing these items.
Background colour:

i will be using balloons as the image that i have on the inside of the album

OR noteworthy:
this is another font i might use as i feel it will be complimentary of the font i will use for the artists name as it is thinner but it still has an urban vibe to it.

Editing (4.12.14)
today was a very stressful editing session i must say. this is purely down to the fact that tomorrow his the deadline for our music video! eek! It has been a long time coming, however we are still yet to sign off the sheet with the big and bold letters 'FINISHED'! Today's session was useful in the sense that Louisa was able to give us some feedback and advice before we finalised and submitted our final music video. I believe the feedback we received was highly useful as it clarified particular theories that we would be using if we made those changes. For example, we decided to use cutaways in the chorus after the first verse and then go on to using them during the second verse. The response form Louisa was that we should instead use them in the chorus after the second verse as it will then act as a motif, giving the audience some sense of familiarity. At first I was against doing this as I wanted the cutaways to come as a surprise and not have the audience expert these changes. However, after applying these suggested changes it created a structure that was clear and flowed well. It also meant that we were now following Goodwin's theory of repetition.
While watching our music video, Louisa noticed that there was a shot in which a member of the public was walking past while I was performing, which was a distraction from the main focus- the video. We swiftly changed the shot, which was easy since we partly used the method of laying a few base tracks down.
Lastly, as we started most of the verses with a medium shot giving the audience a clearer shot of the artist, it would be unusual to start with a long shot which we initially did, at the beginning of the last verse. Louisa said it would be better to begin with a close up in which I couldn't agree anymore. After looking at the applied changes it made a smoother transition from the previous verse.
After the lesson had finished I was able to go into room 323 to being applying the changes that were yet to be done. Furthermore I began tidying up the last verse which proved very difficult as the majority of the base tracks were filmed in slow motion.

Day 5 of Editing (1.12.14) + Feedback response
Today did we not only continue with editing, we had another opportunity to get some feedback from the class on how our music video is looking so far. We began from the beginning of our music video as we thought by chronologically editing the sequence would take the pressure of meeting the deadline slightly off our shoulders.
During to the lead up of our rough cut I believe we did not spend a good amount of time deciding on the right transition between one shot and the next in our music video. However, today we took the time to discuss the appropriate transition for the next shot. Furthermore, in our rough cut and our initial idea the shots varied between those owe filmed in Portobello and Camden Market, which we now decided to change and instead use all the Portobello shots in the first verse and the Camden Market shots in the second. This made our music video clearer in terms of our small narrative of a journey as once we left the first location (Portobello) we planned on not going back to it.
Once we applied these changes to the first verse, it was time to present it to the rest of the class to get an understanding of how they thought our changes worked. Overall I thought the feedback was great as the shot we now decided to use- and replace the old ones- portrayed the the happy and candid feeling which the class felt was presented well. Members of the class felt the performance I gave as a performer was convincing as the hand gestures and facial expressions went with the mood of the song- which was upbeat and happy.
I felt that the class got the happy vibe our group was going for as some of them felt a sense of happiness after watching what we had. Furthermore, I believe the location of the colourful houses and the bright clothing I was wearing added to the happiness my classmates felt as they gave off a warm and cosy feeling.
Receiving the feedback demonstrated that the hard work I have contributed is being appreciated and recognised. I will not use the free time I have outside of lesson to now continue editing the second verse of our music video and so on to the next, to a standard done of the first.

have we stuck to our initial ideas? what have we changed?
yes, i do think we stuck to the original plan that we had at the beginning, which was basically a day in the life of the artist, i just think that when we were presenting in our pitch we didn't really do a good job of explaining clearly what our vision for the video was which is where all the confusion came when we were getting the feedback of our pitch back.
the only thing we really changed was the fact that we were going to film in a park which we didn't add in our pitch, but we thought it would be good to end the video in a different and more green area instead of near buildings, like the rest of the video.
so far we have finished filming the only thing we need to do is finish editing the video.
what we did in lesson last Monday? 17.11.14
lat monday's lesson we continued the editing process and we also produced our rough copy of the video and showed it to the class (although we didn't actually finish the whole video, we just showed half of ours). we got some good and bad feedback on what we should keep and change. we uploaded our rough cut and feedback to the blog. overall it was a productive lesson!
