20.PITCH: evaluation- outline approach to evaluation questions OSOBROBLE
- In what ways does you media product use, develop or challenge forms and conventions of real media products?
i will be using:
EMAZE to present Q1.
2. How effective is the combination of your main product ancillary texts?
get feed back from my target audience and film their responses
3. What have you learnt from your audience feedback?
For this question i will do a spider diagram for 3 people and what i learnt from their feedback
and how it helped me to understand what i did wrong/right
4. How did you use media technologies in the construction and research, planning and evaluation stage?
Again for this question also i think i might use screen shots of all the different types of media technologies that i used over the planning, research and evaluation period.i will demonstrate how I used these media platforms through a video with a voice over describing why i used each of these platforms at each particular stage.
other media platforms i can use for the questions:
PREZI
ANIMOTO

Planning/Pitch: Revisions to pitch and final decisions-
From the feedback we received we thought it would be relevant if we lowered our target audience as we believed and so did the rest of the class thought it was very high as the song appealed to a lower age. Also some of the class asked if we would be making the performer dance. As a group we discussed we wouldn't make Karen dance but it would have some dance elements.

Q9 PITCH: Synergy KAREN LUNDEYA
the colours that are used in the artists name are going to be featured in the video for example in the clothes that she is wearing we are going to try and make it so that the colours are the same. this will be key as it will be the main feature that is going to link the video to the album cover/ poster.
also the location that we are going to film in particular Portobello road is know for its vibrant coloured houses which also show the colours of our artists name. we are hoping to get the name of our artist at the beginning of the video. the font is going to be our main link to the poster/ cover because it is very specific to our artist KAYE and the colours are also a factor that is specific to her.
Q8 PITCH: Costume KAREN LUNDEYA
For our music video we have decided on
having three costume changes. This is enough to make sure we don't
lose focus on how our music video should typically follow conventions
of music videos of the same genre- hence having three changes.
Our intended audience would expect our
artist to wear youthful clothing and the items of clothing chosen for
our artist to wear, reflects popular clothing trends.
The brand Nike, although primarily
focused for those interested in sport many young people choose to
wear its items are updated regularly with new makes coming out every
so often which are then advertised in its stores by young people.
This can explain why our artist will be wearing Nike shoes in one of
the costume changes.
In two of the three outfit changes our
artist will be wearing hoop earrings. Ageing back to the nineties
hoop earrings have been an item of accessory that creates a more
urban feel. R'N'B culture in the 1990's especially in America was an
era where the young and urban artists featured women or were female
artists sporting large hoop earrings. The hoop earrings will add a
youthful feel, but will also convey our artist as feminine.
Our artist will be wearing colourful
tops in all outfit changes to help emphasise the youthful feel we
want our artist to portray. Colours such as yellow attract attention
and make a statement, which can help in the audience assuming the
characteristics of our artist.
Although our artist will wear a darker
coloured jacket on top, a contrast will be created between the dark
and bright, making the bright top stand out even more.
To help with the ensemble of the
youthful portrayal of our artist she will be wearing accessories that
the audience can identify with her being a conventional pop artist.
The bright nail polish and sliver jewellery will demonstrate her
doing things that young females typically do.
Q7 PITCH: Setting and Location KAREN LUNDEYA

We have decided to film at the following locations for these specific reasons:
CAMDEN MARKET:
Camden Market is considered a unique
place as various groups of people visit there, which will create a
sense of familiarity to people that may watch our music video outside
of our target audience. It has a youthful atmosphere as markets in
the area sale items of clothing that trend accordingly to high-street
shops. Camden market attracts a lot of people which creates the
feeling of a bond- which is our intention for our music video as the
upbeat tempo and lyrics imply a celebration of expression. There are
also performers in this area that will create good shot for cutaways
that we plan on having.
PORTOBELLO MARKET:
Portobello Market was partly chosen on
the same basis for choosing Camden Market. However, because thy are
situated in two different locations they are bound to attract
different groups of people (postcode). This will create a contrast in
the cutaways we have, but will still enforce the unity feeling
(portobello market also attracts a lot of people). Using a location
similar to the previous but still different will ensure a diverse
range of cutaways.
Another reason for choosing this
location is that nearby there are set of colourful houses which will
work as part of our music video as a base track. Doing this will
create a link of synergy between our artist and features in our music
video. The colours of these houses include yellow, pink and blue
which ultimately categorises in the group of colours we have used to
present the name of our artist.
KAREN'S FRONT DOOR:
the intro of our music video is to be
shot outside of my house. Although it it does not play a huge part in
the content of our music video, it demonstrates to the audience that
a small narrative is present.
CISSOLD PARK:
The final location for our music video
is Clissold park , which will be used at the final part of our
music video. As the portion to be filmed at the park is during the
songs climax it will emphasise the performer's happiness as it is
almost as she is shouting it out to the world. Furthermore the calm
green scenery will contrast with the large colourful balloons
creating the impression the artist is energetic/ excited.
The concept of our music video is for
it to be candid. The idea of forcing particular shots will not go
well with the song, so having locations that everyone can relate to
will portray our thoughts for the video clearly.

Planning: Post test shots footage of potential performers
Our group did not carry out and post test shots as we though it would be irrelevant as from the Lip Sync project we had decided that Karen would be our performer. Therefore, you could say that the Lip Sync project was post test shots. From the project we all knew that Karen would be the perfect selection and performer to be in the music video. You can see the final end product of the lip sync project.
Planning: Post test shots/ footage of potential performer
As as group we cam to a conclusion that Karen should be the artists as from the video you can see that she is a good performer and she is very easy to work with when recording. Furthermore, she actually matched the real artist. We didn't take any more 'test shots' because we thought after our lip sync project Karen was perfect for the position to be the performer.
20. Pitch: Evaluation- AKBAR
Evaluation <----OPEN LINK
Unlike last year there are only 3 questions for the Evaluation. I think this will make it a lot easier to stay on top of the work and make sure it is in much detail as possible. When starting the Evaluation I will remember how I completed last year Evaluation question and try to figure out where I went wrong and what I could do better. Furthermore, this year I will make sure I use a range of different methods of ICT instead long written posts.
These are just some of the different methods of ICT I will be using for the Evaluation questions.

6. Pitch: Audience 2- AKBAR/OSOB
Since Osob has a couple of friends that are major fans of Jessie J we thought it would be a great idea to ask them and see what kind of ideas they have in regards to what they would like to see in a Jessie J music video.
They said they would like see
there is always always a lot going on e.g. in her video 'who you are' were the room falls apart or her video 'do it like a dude' were people are dancing.
They said they would like see
- ''Fire around the main artist"
- "Minimal make up"
- "There would have to be dance routines"
- "Bright colours in the video"
- "Mini me"
- "There should be other male performers (Dance routines)"
there is always always a lot going on e.g. in her video 'who you are' were the room falls apart or her video 'do it like a dude' were people are dancing.
5. Pitch: Audience 1- AKBAR
For a music video it is very important that you target the correct target audience and make sure the video suits the audience. The audience for our music video is young teen. Roughly around 10-15
Who is your core audience and who is your wider audience?
Our core audience is mainly young teens because the of the song we used is from the pop genre it suits that particular target audience.
How is your video going to appeal to them?
The video is going to appeal to them as we are going to make show the location, setting, and costume all suit the target audience. For example, the costume we are using are going to be all bright and colour matching the standard pop conventions.
4. Pitch: Initial Idea- AKBAR
From the storyboard you can see below you can see the initial ideas that we made for our Music video. During the planning stage we wanted to make a music video that when the audience watch the video instantly know what genre the music video is. We selected Jessie J's - Abracadabra as we thought it would be easy to try make a pop music video. Since our music video was going to be based around the pop genre we figured out that our location, setting and costume has to be pop orientated and when it comes to clothing it has to be bright.

There have been many different videos and artists who have influenced us to some extent for our music video through mise en scene, camerawork, editing and sound. These are just some of the examples:
Eliza Dolittle- Walking on Water
Sam Smith- Stay with me
Pixie Lott- Lay me down

Pixie Lott- Raise up
Delilah- Never be another
RESEARCH: Feedback on my blogging so far
This week I received some feedback about how my blogging has been going so far. After listening to the feedback I realised that they were concerns that I, myself had. One comment I got on my blogging was that I have a few empty blogs, this is something that i am constantly pushing myself not to do. Another comment i got was to make sure that my blogging is more visual. As I speak I am looking into ways i can better the presentation of my blogging in terms of visually. The last comment made was that I do not use enough range of ICT. Along with looking for ways to make my blogging more visual i am looking into websites and softwares I can use to present my findings.

RESEARCH: reflection on progress
when my teacher looked through my blog she pointed out a couple of things that i should change in my blogging so far. we talked about how some of my blogs are not as detailed as they should be especially for an A2 student they lack in depth and they tend not to look like i have spent a great deal of time on them so, i have to go through my blogs (which i have now done)
and go into more depth about what i am talking about instead of just going through it lacking in depth. another thing that i think i should be doing is trying to keep on top of the blogging and trying not to leave it to that last minuet and rushing the blog, i need to sit down take time on it and make something worth showing on the blog that is at A2 students level of work. i also need to stop posting blank blogs, instead i can save them into drafts.

i do think that i have used a lot of different ways to present my blog posts using websites such as prezi, slideshare, emaze and making spider diagrams instead of just typing up all my blogs i've made them more interesting to look at. i think i also need to try and use some more types of technology in my posts even i have used quite a bit i think i should use some more instead of re-using some that ive already used.
grade my blog is at so far: D/C
RESEARCH: evaluation of lip sync tutorial
Delilah video
we were set the task of making a music video to the song 'Never be another' by the British artist Delilah. we had a lesson to film the footage and edit it which was a simple task for our group as we did both during our lesson on the 29th of September. it was our first time working on a task together as a group and it was a very pleasant experience working with Karen and Akbar as we all put in an equal effort and work very well as a team. the making of the Delilah video was interesting as we got to see what we did well and what we didn't do so well in. this was a great process as we got to grips with how to film/ edit our final music video and what we shouldn't do next time for example in the video one of our base tracks was slightly off time which means that we marked the video at the wrong time.
this was the one base track that was slightly off.
the positive things about this video was the fact that our editing was really good and was on the beat , the variety of different shots made it so that we didn't have to repeat anything, our use of location fitted the music video very well. however one thing we did not do was include any close up shots which is really bad as all music videos have t have close ups.
i think this was overall a good activity as it means that we will hopefully learn from this and try not to make the same mistakes next time. when editing the video we though we had made a lot more mistakes than we actually did as we didn't seem to be very pleased with it at first but when we saw it in front of the class on the larger screen it wasn't as bad as we thought and we were very proud of it especially with it being our first go in editing and filming a music video as there are some differences in making a film like we did in our AS year.

Kat Dahlia 'Crazy'
the cover for this single cover is in black and white which seems to be the theme for this single which is the main theme that connects the cover with the video that is also in black and white which is the only other platform for this song as it does not have an advertisement. the font is also something in which you can link to the video however the font used in the video is a little bit thinner but it is the same. the simple makeup look used in this cover is also the same as in the video.

the futuristic feel in this single cover is very distinctive to Daft Punk as the two men that make up the band wear the masks that on the cover, it is a very specific and individual look to them. the font is also specific to the group as most of their cover work has the same font, any fan of Daft Punk would be able to know its them from this font.
this is the teaser for the Daft Punk album 'Random access memory' which follows through with the futuristic feel also it featured the album cover itself with the same font.

RESEARCH: Prop activity
When filming the lip syncing task we did not plan to bring
in any specific items as props. However it just happened to be a coincident
that I was wearing clothing that fit the look we were going for in the video. This
is as the beat of the song had an urban twist to it and I happened to be
wearing clothes that are considered youthful. I was also wearing a large dark
hat which went with the lyrics of the song as it created the unknown between
the singer and audience as the hat acted as though something was being kept
from them. The lyrics of the Delilah song are for a man who did her wrong so it
could suggest the video should demonstrate her hurting; the hat can represent
her hiding her pain. The rural background that we filmed in added effect.
Research for Music Video: Skills Audit-
Thinking back to the research that I conducted for my AS practical work I have learnt many new skills that are very valuable.
First of all, I started using blogger; I have never blogged ever in my life. Also last year I hardly carried out any sort of research however this year I believe that the research I carried out is very clear and structured.
During AS I started using Final Cut Pro which was a major thing as I had to edit my Film opening on Final Cut Pro.
Furthermore, from AS I have learnt how to use all the camera equipment which now has helped me for the A2 year which will help a lot during the production of the Music Video.

21. Khadeeja, Romy, Andreia, Luke from 283goswell on Vimeo.
this music video from the previous year was really good in my opinion. i feel like the video was shot very well with a wide range of shots that are not repeated. one thing you can tell by watching the video is that they planned it thoroughly as there don't seem to be any mistakes that catch your eye. the girl that is lip singing is singing on time and the voice of the singer suits her very well and i think this also very important in making the video flow very well. the story line is very clear and the use of both costume and location is very good as the location is very vibrant and the song is a very upbeat song. the use of dance is also very common in music video, the dance is rehearsed very well. overall this video is one of my favorites and i would of given it 38/40.
13. Cara, Eloise, Melissa from 283goswell on Vimeo.
i think this video is also very good in terms of the group choosing a good song that fit the girl who was performing it very well however this group did not seem like they planned out where they were going to film as well as the previous group did, it just seemed like they chose a random place to film. the story line is also very unclear and the things going on in the background did seem very awkward and unnatural e.g the party. the lip syncing however worked really well as though the girl actually performed it herself. the costume aspect of the video was also not that great as she was wearing the same thing through out. there is a variety of different shot types which is why i gave this video a 31/40

Research for Music Video: Mainstream vs Independent(Indie)
One direction are commonly known as a Mainstream band and commonly mainstream artists are much more of a commercial success then Independent artists. From this blog we are going to find more about Mainstream vs Independent.
First we'll start of with Mainstream; One Direction
One direction are a manufactured boy boy from the hit series of the X Factor UK. They were formed in boot camp as the failed to make it as solo artists as Simon Cowell thought they all had potential.

1. What are the main advantages and disadvantages to being signed to an mainstream label?
Advantages:
- Money and power are the most desirable assets of a major record label. In order to successfully release an album nationally and expect it to have widespread appeal and attract the attention of the majority of people who listen to new music, a significant amount of money must be invested in the release.
- Radio airplay has historically been an especially important factor in a record’s release. Consumers of mainstream music listen to the radio to hear their favorite songs, and greatly rely on it to introduce them to new music. Launching a national commercial radio campaign takes money, time, effort, and strong relationships with the program directors at radio stations. Many labels, even majors, outsource the job of radio promotion to an independent promoter who can take the time and effort to do the job successfully, and has good relationships with radio stations.
Disadvantages
- One of the main arguments against major labels is that they are set up to promote and reward formulaic, unoriginal music, in order to safely market music that is known to have high consumer appeal.
- Less creative control for artists.
